Manistee Academic Teams

Manistee
Robotics Team

Robotics Coach:
Dan Dilworth – ddilworth@manistee.org

  • Robotics begins the second week of school with one meeting a week after school on Mondays working on vision and inertial navigation of a basic robot.
  •  In January through March we meet three afternoons a week building our robot for competition.
  • We compete in at least two regional competitions with robotics teams from throughout the State.
Students testing robotics project

This is a hands-on, you do it activity where you will work with your peers on constructing a 100 pound robot that can perform in a new game that we learn about at the beginning of January. Watch some “FRC events” videos to learn more.

Head Coach Dan Dilworth ddilworth@manistee.org

  • We start some robot orientation work in November with the season going from January to April.
  • We compete in two state-wide events and a State Championship if we qualify, and a National Event if we are that good and raise enough sponsorship money to afford it.
  • At a Kick-off Event in January, we find out what this year’s game is. Then we build a near 100-pound robot like that in the pictures to compete in the game, build its software, and practice operating our robot.
  • Students participate in design, construction, software, operation, game and team management, publicity, fund raising…anything that contributes to team success.
  • We hope you have fun while gaining more experience that better prepares you for the world ahead.
